"We Almost Did That" is the first chapter in Chicken Soup for the Traveler's Soul
When Steve Gardiner and his wife Peggy were preparing to move to Lima, Peru, to teach at the American School of Lima, they heard many people lament “We almost quit our jobs and lived overseas” or similar phrases. The Gardiners decided they would not say “We Almost Did That” but would go seek the adventure they wanted. The essay explores this idea and recounts events that happened while they traveled for 18 months through more than 20 countries.
