Steve began running in 1978 to get in better shape for mountain climbing. It wasn't long, however, before he began entering road races. He has run many local and state races as well as several national and international events including:

Master's Track and Field
In master's track and field meets, Steve often runs the 100 and 200 meter dashes and enters the racewalking events. He has ten gold medals from the 5000 meter racewalks in the Cowboy State Games and the Big Sky State Games.
